"The work of parents and
the community in schools is crucial to our success in educating
every child well..."
"As parents, we hope you will not only
get involved with your child’s school but help us engage
local houses of worship, local businesses and community groups
so they can participate in making our schools among the best
in the country."

Welcome
to the Charlotte Mecklenburg PTA Council web site. Before you go
any further we would like to answer a question that we hear all
too frequently, “What is the Charlotte Mecklenburg PTA Council?"
Well…
The
organization’s legal name is Charlotte Mecklenburg Council
of PTAs & PTSAs, Inc. and we are the only organization recognized
by the National PTA and North Carolina State PTA to represent PTAs
at the county level in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg metropolitan area.
Chartered in 1996, we encompass schools in Charlotte and the surrounding
towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill
and Pineville, North Carolina. We serve more than 130 local unit
(school site) PTAs. We have the pleasure and the responsibility
of establishing new units throughout the county. We act as a conduit
for information flowing from the units to the state level and vice-versa.
We work in partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the
Board of Education, and provide parental input on a variety of issues.
This web site is only one of the tools we provide our members.
We also publish a monthly newsletter that is sent to all unit presidents,
school principals, and the school district superintendent at no
cost.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg PTA Council executive board is comprised
of members from various parts of the county and all walks of life.
They are exceptional leaders who have devoted more than 50 collective
years of service to this organization. Take advantage of our collective
knowledge by utilizing the tools that we provide both online and
elsewhere.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. We hope you find
it a valuable resource.
Sincerely,
Kim S. Graham
President
